CONSTRUCTION
Odd's outstanding design and construction make it a classic, reliable, seaworthy boat
Design and Boatyards
Designed by Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt, from French boatyard META, manufecturer of Bernard Moitessier's historical Joshua (https://meta-yachts.com/en/ )
Built by Dinieper boatyard, Brazil's most reputable steel boat manufacturer, responsible for building Amyr Klink's Paratii.
Construction and Materials
Built using the "STRONGALL" system (registered by META Yachts) in which the hull's strength is guaranteed by a honeycomb structure formed by the diesel and water tanks integrated into the bottom, the connection of the deck to the bottom through the pillar that supports the mast, and the connection of the cockpit floor to the hull bottom.
The hull is self-supporting, with no stringers, made of 3mm thick sheets on the deck, 6.3mm on the sides, and 9.2mm in some points of the bottom. All welded with MIG welding, with the stainless steel parts welded with Kestra electrodes, special for joining stainless steel with carbon steel.
After the steel work was completed, the entire hull was hot-dip galvanized (high-temperature zinc spraying) externally and internally with a thickness of 200 microns.
Woodwork and Thermal Insulation
The boat's interior woodwork was made with solid mahogany and cedar marine plywood bonded with epoxy.
The thermal insulation of the deck and sides was made with 50 mm thick polystyrene foam boards, up to the waterline.
